Olivier UWISHEMA is the passionate founder behind Oli Health Magazine. As a Medical student who agrees with this quote “Prevention is better than cure” by Desiderius Erasmus, he established Oli Health Magazine. It’s an International Youth Health Issues Medical website.
Olivier is proudly Rwandan; he is a passionate medical student, researcher and writer at KTU Medical School in Turkey. He is also a health volunteer, health advocate, leader and a man who seeks to make a change. Olivier was the vice-president of Rwandan Diaspora in Turkey (2016-2017). He worked with a British International Non-Governmental Organization fighting against slavery as a social researcher for the Asia department in 2017. He worked as volunteer coordinator for International School Sport Federation, a Gymnasiade World Schools Championship which works to increase access to education and sport for all young people in 2016.
As a dedicated writer, Olivier struggled so many times when he wanted to publish his medical articles. Despites the fact that newspapers and other media organizations wanted a fee before publishing his work, he did not give up. Many of his articles were ignored. As a person who knows how it feels to not have people support your creative and innovative ideas due to societal labels, Olivier wants to be a voice for young people. He wants the and innovative ideas or talents for, for example writing those kinds of educational medical/health related articles, to be heard; so that they may improve the lives of people across the globe.
Oli Health Magazine’s mission is to create a very healthy world. It is opened to all, regardless of race, colour, gender, language, religion, opinions, origins, age, disability, wealth, birth status or ability and therefore apply to every human being, everywhere.
Olivier truly believes that we need each other’s hand in order to improve people’s welfare completely and successfully. They say prevention is better than cure; It can only be achieved by practicing healthy diet, lifestyle and changing our mindsets. We need to acknowledge that the way some people live and what they put in their mouths, their physical activities and emotional well being can be more powerful than prescribed.
Being an African medical student abroad pushed him to realize that he should stop being spectator. Rather he needs to become part of the solutions to the most pressing problems in his communities. He believes that he can make an impact on local communities, countries and even across the globe through small projects which can improve the lives of people all over the world.
Olivier UWISHEMA believes that promoting healthy behavior among the youths and taking steps to better protect young people from health risks are critical for the prevention of health problems in adulthood; This will brighten our future perspective of the world’s health and our ability to develop and thrive.
